Allison (Thayer) Anderson
Allison Anderson is an author (and sometimes illustrator) located in New York's Capital Region. After graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Master of Science with a Concentration in Lighting, Allison continued being part of a research team that worked with diverse populations including older adults with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, adolescents with autism and special needs, office workers, and shift-workers. During that time, she co-authored manuscripts and was the first author on multiple trade magazine articles. Publication topics include light for human health in regard to circadian-effective light, glare, energy, sleep, and alertness. Allison also spearheaded outreach initiatives, such as creating a website to teach the general public about light and health. Currently, she is a part-time assistant coach, captain of a local running team, and a stay-at-home mom with her two boys. They love reading books together, especially educational ones, to learn about so many fun topics in a digestible way. Allison has a strong passion for making her mark in the industry, adding educational books to teach readers, young and old, about why lighting is important for your health and well-being.
